Program Changes this Spring

Dear Members and Friends of the Society,

We have canceled our 20th Anniversary Celebration that was scheduled for Saturday, April 4th at UC Sedgwick Reserve, but we look forward to rescheduling this special event in late spring or fall.

The April 9 lecture “Plant Adaptations and Recovery from Wildfire” with Dr. Matt Kay is canceled and we hope to reschedule it for later this year. We still plan to host the June 10 lecture “Where Have all the Butterflies Gone” with Dr. Art Shapiro.

We are NOT canceling our upcoming field trips at this time. The Society is still offering unique outings this spring. We will allow a maximum of 15 people per trip and require that all participants practice social distancing while on these hikes. We discourage car-pooling to reach the trips’ trailheads, and we insist that any one who feels they have any symptoms of COVID-19, influenza, or common cold to immediately cancel their planned participation in a trip. Advance registration for field trips will continue as noted in each field trip announcement.

Even if you do not participate in one of the Society’s field trips, we hope you will get outside, do some exploring, and enjoy the unfolding spring as a way to de-stress and appreciate the amazing natural history of Santa Ynez Valley region. In the meantime, check our website www.syvnature.com for updates.
